A blooming agave stands at the center of a pieced wood panel, its red flower stalk rising through a pale arch while a bee hangs in the grain beside it. The plant is set against a light board, then boxed in by a green border of black triangles, side strips of moon phases and black scorpions, and a top band of tile patterns and striped ovals. A red geometric strip runs along the bottom.
The panel is built from different wood planks, each left visible so the grain reads as part of the image. Painted elements sit on top of that: the agave, the flower, the scorpions, the moons, and the colored bands. The outer frame is custom engraved in a woven checkerboard, with routed edges that step the border in from the dark outer rim to the picture.
